Description Marine Corps parade on North Loudoun Street, September 28, 1923. The Marines, under the command of Brigadier General Smedley D. Butler, were en route from New Market, where they had participated in a re-enactment of the Civil War battle, to the fairgrounds on the north end of Winchester, where they would encamp in preparation for a football game on Saturday the 29th between the USMC team and a team from Washington College, Chestertown, MD. Filed under "Parade, Marine Corps (1923)".
