John S. Mosby (1833-1916), Confederate officer and guerrilla fighter. Engraving in embossed heavy paper folder with studio imprint. Note in ink (ballpoint pen) on back of folder, "Presented to my dear old friend and comrade John Russell - by his old commander Jno. S. Mosby / San Francisco / August 16th 1899." (Engraving shows Mosby as a relatively youngish man, and not in uniform.) Item appears to be a copy of 69-539b wfchs. |
