2011, 2032 Valley Avenue. Cattle in puddle left after flood. Scene of Sheridan's Ride. Approximate location just north of Parkins mill and Parkins-Hillyard farm (later known as "The Elms"), where Abrams Creek runs under Valley Avenue. (Abrams Creek was prone to flooding, and there appear to be overflow puddles in a number of pictures.) Original in Album III, "Mid the Green Fields of Virginia, summer 1901", p 17, filed with collection. |
