Note in ink (dip or fountain pen) on back of folder, "Presented to my dear old friend and comrade John Russell - by his old commander Jno. S. Mosby / San Francisco / August 16th 1899." (Engraving shows Mosby as a relatively youngish man, and not in uniform.) |
