Admiral Richard E. Byrd arrives in Winchester, at B&O station on Piccadilly Street. Passenger car 1407 in background. Two motion picture cameramen (with tripods), men, women, children, policeman, etc. all enthusiastically welcoming famed Arctic explorer. Other man in Navy whites is a NCO. No other persons clearly identified. Date estimated as c. 1930. Compare 39-151 thl. Two 3" x 5" b & w prints also in envelope, along with cryptic note identifying one of the small boys in crowd as a "Mr. Wallace". |
